| Objectives / Innovative Aspects |
The main objective of this measure is to enhance the current high frequency bus network by increasing the perceived frequency of services along 18 key corridors. By marketing the network as a whole, in a fashion similar to the London Underground, an Overground will be created. This initiative will result in the re-branding of public transport and the remodelling of the network of services. The aim is to increase passenger flows through a better understanding of the network. show long version |
| The Measure |
- Overground map developed and distributed widely within the area.
- Pocket guide produced in conjunction with the map
- Civitas vinyls to be incorporated onto buses. This has been put on hold due to competition issues in the City
- Bus stop infrastructure updated and colour coded on all key routes in the Preston and South Ribble area
- Network reviewed in cooperation with bus operators in 2005. This was reviewed and changed in 2007 due to competition issues in the network.
Infrastructure:
- New infrastructure installed featuring route branding
Promotion of this network has come to a stop due to competition issues with bus operators in the Preston area and frequent changes to the bus networks over the last 20 months. Work will recommence when the network is more stable.
